A little en retard, but still within the first month. “Free internet!!” Yeah right… So I’m beaming this from Amsterdam, work station.
A story that occurred me: in the old days, when Eurosport was still free and had those adventure series, I had one favorite: The little island on the other side of the world, home to the Tasmanian Devil. It was portrayed as the last remaining bastion of pure adventure seekers: bungee jumpers, skiers, surfers and canyonists. Ushuaia’s sister so to speak. It all very well appealed to my puberty, what probably explained me totally missing the part where they’re actually talking about New Zealand. Queenstown to be more correct.
Anyhoo, a little research, and it seemed that Tasmania was discovered in sixteen something by Abel Janz Tasman, some Dutch guy, and was once called Van Diemens Land, named after a town in the Netherlands
and title of a U2 song by the Edge jumping from my stereo. 19 years later and a few months ago, driving my late car, I found out that there is actually a highway exit to Diemen… (Whaaauw!)
…
The same goes with Houten.
